Two poles of contemplative prayer

Desired by God and desiring God alone.

These are the two poles of contemplative prayer.

Francis of Assisi taught his followers this simple rule of prayer:

“Let us desire nothing else,

Let us wish for nothing else than

our Creator, Redeemer and Savior.”

Why? Because to desire only Love is nothing else than to cherish Him, Love, alone.

Then you possess Love and in Him all things.

All what is not the Eternal himself is still too small for the human heart.

In an overabundance of love the Word has drawn her to himself.

Consuming her, He has transformed her,

and the Father finds His Beloved Son anew in the one

who has become identical and conformed to Christ.

“This is my Beloved in whom I am well pleased.”
