St. Benedict’s of Nursia’s biographer, Gregory, wrote that Benedict had a remarkable vision towards the end of his life in which he saw the entire world in a beam of radiant light that illuminated the darkness. Gregory explains that by the light of God, a man’s soul is enlarged and he sees how small the things of earth really are.
