(NIV) Eze 7:13 For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they still are among the living (for the vision is to all her multitude, and it shall not return); and a man shall not hold his life strong in his iniquity.
(ESV) Eze 7:13 For the seller shall not return to what he has sold, while they live. For the vision concerns all their multitude; it shall not turn back; and because of his iniquity, none can maintain his life.
The New Bible Commentary, page 650, 651
The buying and selling in verses 12 and 13 appears to be of property, the seller either doing it against his own inclination (cf. 1 Kings 21:1-16) or at a bad price. The prophet says the one need not be glad, nor the other sorry, for both will shortly be involved in catastrophe. Many have thought that verse Eze 7:13 refers to the law of jubile (Lev 25:10 f), and it may be so. Otherwise the prophet is continuing the thought of verse Eze 7:12; buying back the ancestral lands in unthinkable, for ‘the nation will be broken up and questions of property will cease to have interest’ (Toy).
